Configuring SSL for JTL-Reporter on an AWS EC2 instance
This guide assumes an Ubuntu VM
Prerequisites
- AWS EC2 instance up and running with JTL Docker images at publicipv4:2020 (See guide here)
- Elastic IP assigned to VM host
- Certificate, key, CA
Preparation
- Connect to your instance via SSH
- Install apache2 and the required modules
sudo apt install apache2
sudo a2enmod ssl
sudo a2enmod proxy
sudo a2enmod proxy_balancer
sudo a2enmod proxy_http
sudo a2enmod rewrite
sudo a2enmod headers
Configuration
Prepare files for your site and keep a backup
sudo cp /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-ssl.conf /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-ssl.conf.bak
sudo cp /etc/apache2/sites-available/000-default.conf /etc/apache2/sites-available/<yourfqdn>.conf
Move certificate, CA and key to their respective folders and apply ownership
sudo mv /tmp/DigiCertCA.crt /tmp/certificate.crt /etc/ssl/certs
sudo mv /tmp/key.key /etc/ssl/private
sudo chmod 644 /etc/ssl/certs/DigiCertCA.crt
sudo chmod 644 /etc/ssl/certs/certificate.crt
sudo chmod 600 /etc/ssl/private/key.key
sudo chown root /etc/ssl/private/key.key
sudo chown root /etc/ssl/certs/DigiCertCA.crt

Modify your /etc/hosts file with your Elastic IP to your EC2 instance

Edit the /etc/apache2/apache2.conf file, so that Server Root and directories are commented, here is an example:
